Actually nucleotide is a monomer of DNA or RNA.but DNA and RNA. are made up of large number of nucleotides which forms the complete structure of DNA.

A mononucleotide will not work as aheredity material because it does not form the complete DNA structure which carries essential genetic infirmation to be passed on to next generation.
