Do people living at higher altitudes have higher red blood cells

They do this because the air is "thinner" at high altitudes meaning there are fewer oxygen molecules per volume of air. ... To compensate for the decrease in oxygen, one of the body's hormones, erythropoietin (EPO), triggers the production of more red blood cells to aid in oxygen delivery to the muscles

→Yes they have more RBC than normal person do.

→People who live in higher altitude have more RBCs count than people who live in plains. Because as we know that the air pressure decreases on higher altitude.

→ Due to high altitude availability of oxygen decreases .

Hope this will help you.
