In my case, I hold a value of preservation of abundance. If a mystery solved can help preserve abundance (and in particular preserve life), I would feel an urge to share the solution, but not against the wishes of those I share it with.

Somebody else might have different values. In any profession, there are mysteries to solve how to make a profit. To share those mysteries would perhaps be self-defeating in the presence of competition. On the other hand, in a competitive setting, where everybody can benefit from solved mysteries, it would only be a temporary gain, compared to a global gain. People may have a strong story why they can’t share their solutions.
