Yes. Plants need Oxygen for Respiration process

They take Oxygen for respiration and release Carbon dioxide. This Carbon dioxide is used for Photosynthesis process

But in Night time photosynthesis process slows down but respiration is going on and more and more Carbon dioxide is released from plants

So, elders say not to sleep under tress during Night
