Pneumatophores are special type of erect roots for breathing. Normal roots are saturated with water so there will be poor aeration. So the pneumatophores are also called as breathing roots. these roots posses pores called as breathing pores .

Yes, these structures called the pneumatophores has small pores on it. These pores are termed as pneumathodes.

Through this pores the exchange of gases occurs or takes place. These roots are the respiratory roots. These roots can be found mostly in the mangrove type of plants. These roots moves against the gravity's direction.
