The limnetic zone is the well-lit, open surface waters in a lake, away from the shore. The vegetation of the littoralzone surrounds this expanse of open water and it is above the profundal zone. This is the main photosyntheticbody of the lake. This zone produces the oxygen and food that support thelake's consumers.

Hence , light is absent...

Thus , Photosynthetic organisms are absent....

Only decomposers and benthos (Organisms that live on the bottom of the lake) are present and Photosynthetic organisms are absent..
