Munshi Premchand's early education was in Urdu and Persian. As a boy he developed a voracious appetite for books and he read as much Urdu novels as he could lay his hands on. In his writings he attacked and exposed several social evils of his time. He wanted greater economic and social justice for the underprivileged.
