Explanation:

There is a common belief that elections in India are all about casteism, nothing else. Casteism plays a very significant role in all most all the states of India. But it is also true that 'caste' and 'vote bank' factors alone cannot determine elections in India due to these reasons- (i) No parliamentary constituency has a clear majority of one single caste. So, every candidate has to win the support of more than one caste and community to win. (ii) Political parties make appeals to caste sentiment to gain support. But no party wins the votes of all the voters of a particular caste or community. (iii) Many political parties may put up candidates from the same caste, so voters have more than one choice from same community. Further, many voters have no candidate from their own caste.
