do the colours have same width in spectrum ? why?

The conventional listing, from longest wavelength to shortest, is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. ... They definitely do NOT have the same width in the spectrum; yellow is pretty narrow, and green and red are rather broad, for instance.
