Both the statement talk about having goals in life.
(a). People have different goals to lead a good life. It may pertain to education, job etc.
(b). Now, two people may have goals that may be good for them individually but may be opposite to each other.
Example- A wage earner would expect a high wage but the employer would like to hire him/her at the least wages.
In the book there has been a statement-
'The development of one may not be the development of the other'.
The above statement clearly expalains that People have conflicting goals.
