Also , Atomic no = no. of electrons present.

Therefore , No. of electrons in ₁₇Cl³⁵ = No. of electron in ₁₇Cl³⁷.

₁₇Cl=  1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 3p⁵

Therefore it can easily gain 1 electron to form completely filled p orbital
