Non-metals oxides when they are produced stay shiny lustrous. Metal in fact produce metal oxide and hydrogen gas while react with water.

Nonmetals  oxide fails to show metallic properties. In the periodic table p block in the non-metals.

Non-metal oxides are oxides of non-metals and these are acidic compounds.

But the metal oxides are basic compounds. This is the main difference between metal oxides and non-metal oxides.
