i)It is easier to install a hand pump in plane region compared to plateauregion.... A plain may be defined broadlyas any lowland area that is level or gently sloping or rolling.Though it is higherthan the surrounding area, there are no peaks in a plateau as it consists of flat land only.

ii)Increasing population creates demand for construction of houses, shops, offices, roads and pavements. ... So, theincreasing population ends up consuming more groundwater as well as allowing lesser water to seep into the ground. This results in depletion of water table.

ANSWER:-

(i) The upper limit of groundwater at a place is called the water table at that place. Water table is usually higher in the plains but is very low in the plateaus. This is the reason it is easier to install a hand pump in the northen plains.

(ii) Increasing population creates demand for constrution of houses,shops,
