 I n 1 minute first pipe can fill 1/12th of the cistern

The second pipe can fill cistern in 16 mins

In 1 minute the second pipe can fill (1/16)th of the cistern

In 1 minute both the cistern can fill(1/12+1/16)=(4+3/48)=7/48 of the cistern

Time taken by both pipes to fill the cistern=48/7 minutes
