DEFINITION

Let A & B be any two non empty sets

A relation f with the property that each element x of A is related to the EXACTLY one element y of B is said to be a mapping / function from A to B

EVALUATION

CHECKING FOR f(x)

By the given definition of f

For each element x we get EXACTLY one value f(x)

So f is a function

CHECKING FOR g(x)

By the given condition of g(x)

g(2) = {2}^{2} = 4

Also

g(2) = 3 \times 2 = 6

So

For one value of x ( = 2) we get two values of g(x)

So g is not a function
