1) (I) Time is the continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future. Time in physics is operationally defined as "what a clock reads".

(ii) Military Time 2135 is: 9:35 PM using 12-hour clock notation, 21:35 using 24-hour clock notation.

(iii) While using the 24 hour system, when it's eight o'clock, it's eight o'clock. No need to ask or specify which eight it is: AM or PM. This eliminates any ambiguity related to repeating times in the 12 hour system. Much of the world uses 24 hour time, in part due to this simplicity.

2).(i) Parallax is a displacement or difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight, and is measured by the angle or semi-angle of inclination between those two lines

(ii) average = 23

(iii)Mercury

Mercury is the only one in liquid state at room temperature. It's used in thermometers because it has high coefficient of expansion. Hence, the slightest change in temperature is notable when it's used in a thermometer. It also has a high boiling point which makes it very suitable to measure higher temperatures

3) (i) A beam balance works on the principle of moments(stated and proved above) according to which in equilibrium, the anticlockwise moment due to the weight of an object on the left pan of the beam is equal to the clockwise moment due to the standard weights of the right pan of the beam.

(ii) Kink in the clinical thermometer helps to prohibit the falling of mercury present in the capillary tube into the bulb ensuring that a person should get the correct reading even after taking the thermometer out from his/her mouth.

(iii) The symbols of the units named after scientist should be written by a capital letter.

•Small letters are used as symbols for units not derived from a proper name.

4)(i) The atoms and molecules in gases are much more spread out than in solids or liquids. They vibrate and move freely at high speeds. Gas can be compressed much more easily than a liquid or solid.
