Yes ,I think that Mrs. packletide believed in a false show -off .As in the story you came to know as she was jealous of her friend as her friend go on aeroplane.So,see wanted to be famous like her .For this ,she wanted to kill a old tiger and give it's claws to her friend to tease her.

yes! mrs packletide bealive in false showoff thats why she planed to kill tiger and when the tiger was dead with the heart attack not for his bullets she gives extra money to the villagers to hide that secret and then to showoff to loona bimberton hope its helps you
