Undoubtedly,Shylock was a selfish moneylender but when his daughter Jessica runs away taking away his wealth and jewels,he deserves sympathy.
He lost both of his expensive and extraordinary wealths which are his daughter and his actual wealth and jewellery.

no as he is cruel we can say this as he is taking his revenge from Antonio who spat on him,made his own friends go against him and so on but the way shylock is taking his revenge is not right of trapping Antonio in his cruel bond I.e it states a pound of flesh can be cut from any part of the body rather than that ge should just accept the 3000 ducats bassanio offers
