Do u knw the answer of why cations are always smaller than its parental atom???

cations are smaller than their parent atoms . The opposite is true of negative ions. When electrons are added to form an anion,the increased electron-electron repulsion cause the electrons to spread out more in space. Thus,anions are larger than their parent atoms.

cations are smaller than parental atom bcz cations are formed after lose of electron due to which shielding effect decreases
