People support lok adalat because the Lok Adalat resolves disputes relating to matters which are not very complicated in nature. Any court, authority or committee may refer to the Lok Adalat a dispute pending for a long time in the court or remaining in the condition prior to the beginning of the trial and it roughly means "People's court". India has had a long history of resolving disputes through the mediation of village elders.
