Similarities between the Himalayan Mountains and the Deccan plateau:

• Many rivers originate from Himalayas and it originates from the snow-capped glaciers of the Himalayan mountains.

• The rivers of Deccan mostly originate in the Western Ghats.

• The Himalayan rivers acts as a source of irrigation in Northern Indian plains while Deccan rivers irrigate the peninsular region of India.

• The Himalayan rivers have large basins and large catchments whereas the Deccan rivers have small basins and small catchments.

• Even though the bed rocks of Himalayan rivers are soft the bed rocks of Deccan are hard.
