India does not have a Federal Government, but a Parliamentary government system having federal features.

  • India remains a federal or a quasi-federal democratic republic with a British model-based parliamentary governance structure.
  • The Supreme legislative body of India is the Parliament and consists of the President and the two Houses namely the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha
  • There is also a Ministerial Council with the Prime Minister as its head to properly advise the President who is the country's constitutional head.
