Do we take gravity = 9.8 m/s² for all heights when solving problems?

no, if we are in poles of the earth g=10 and on equater it is 9, and even depending upon the question we take the g value,

it's depends on you if you take. this value than question will became more complicated because of involvement of decimal places so I recommended to use 10 at this place
