do we use "did" with past tense.

Did is an auxiliary verb (or “helping verb”) that is followed by a main verb, which carries the real verb meaning. The auxiliary verb (did) is marked for past tense, but the main verb is not.

Example - 1. What did you eat? (The two verbs are did and eat.)

Example - 2. I didn't stay late.(didn't, stay)

Yes we use did in the past tense..

Example:- He did let us know the answer few days ago...
