Skandgupta was one of the most important Gupta emperors of all time.

He was considered the last powerful Gupta ruler.

He indeed is called the greatest emperor of all time because of his successful reign over years on the Gupta dynasty and also because he faced some of the greatest challenges by defeating and resisting attacks from the Pushyamitras and Hunas.

The laster Gupta rulers couldn't keep pace with the success which the great ruler had got. succeeded by Budhagupta and Narsimhagupta,the kingdom was constantly attacked and lost its glory.

Hence it can be rightly said that Skandgupta was the saviour of India.
