Explanation:Rarely are we rewarded for an act of kindness, or our kindness to strangers in general. Nor should we be! Maybe its just me, but I was taught that you do something kind for someone-not because youre expecting to be noticed as a HERO, or to be given a medal to wear on your jacket……you do it because ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO…..PERIOD! I dont want to be recognized for being the type of human being that my Grandmother taught me to ALWAYS STRIVE TO BE-and like the rest of the world should strive for as well…..a kind, decent, thoughtful, empathetic man, (& foolishly I believed that MOST humans were taught the same lesson).

Whether its someone we deem to be suffering or in need of something that you can spare-whether it be a hamburger, a gallon of gasoline, a ciggarette, or a couple of dollars….or…..a bowl of kibble and a bowl of fresh water for an obvious stray/ misplaced animal-along with a phonecall to a “no-kill animal rescue”….I will WITHOUT HESITATION, give them my assistance or treat them with kindness, or just to listen to what they have to say….and I will NEVER take any kind of “reward” for being the kind of human that used to exist when i was a child in the late 1970s and 1980s. Never.

Part of that may be due to the therapist in me, and part of it comes from knowing what its like to be right in the same exact position as them-& having NOBODY come to lend me a hand… I remember thinking “WTF is wrong with humanity nowadays”?
