The rural area would generally have a lower concentration of population and less diversity (you might - depending on the size - have a medical centre, dental care, educational providers, entertainment providers, food vendors, informational infrastructure…). And again, depending on the size and character of the rural area they might be specific (high school for mechanics and farming… but no art classes, mining, engineering, IT…), two restaurants with local quisine (but no place that offers foreign food - chinese, thai, mexican, indian, italian… restaurant), community theatre - but no opera house…
