yes we agree that mrs. pakletide believed in false show off. she was jealous of the sucess of her best friend lonna and she decided to hunt a tiger so that she would become more famous then her friend. she even accepted to give money to the villagers if they help her to hunt the tiger.

I agree that packletide believed in false show off because she was so jealous on her rival loona bimberton, that she couldn't resist her pride in shooting a tiger and the travel of 11 miles with an algerian aviator. So her false character instigated her to kill a tiger . This was the reason for her downfall and loss. She had a huge loss to complete her desire like giving money to the villagers and money for the villa for mebbin. This loss was the compensation for her false show off.
