Do you agree that political candidates for different elections should have no definite qualifications? Justify your answer.
Answers
Yes, not prescribing a definite qualification for a political leader or a candidate is justifiable in our country because of the following reasons:
a. For political leaders their biggest test is the Election which determines whether they have been able to work as per the interest of the voters. It is imperative for political leaders to be responsive to people's needs and show concern to their problems or else they will be voted out of power.
b. Poverty ,illiteracy continue to hamper the progress of our country. If we prescribe educational qualification for leaders it would be against the democratic principle for a country where large section of population is illiterate and the very essence of elections which implies giving chance to everybody to contest would be defeated.
c. It should be left to the voters to decide educational qualification if it all we want minimum qualification for our leaders. This would be in a democratic spirit.
d. For leaders, it is more of their ability to understand people's concerns that matters.
Political candidates for different elections should have definite qualifications.
Explanation:
- I don't agree with the statement because the political leaders must have basic education for the proper functioning of tasks assigned to them.
- Secondly, it improves the quality of people looking for opportunities in the political sphere.
- The Constitution of India is alive till the people can understand it and if the law-making forces do not know about the basics of Constitution, the constitutional spirit is going to suffer.
