Yes, I think it does because Mini's father in spite of being a rich aristocratic Bengali man decides to give Kabuliwala some money ,cutting down the expenses of his daughter's wedding. He does this the moment he realizes that Kabuliwala might be an ordinary fruit peddlar from Kabul,but he shares just the same relationship with his own daughter back at Kabul just like he does with his Mini. They are both fathers at the end of the day and share the same paternal joy.
