Yes, the following are the reasons-
1. To spread the faith of that particular religion
2. To protect the religion
3. To retrieve countries that were once of that religion, even though there is no one of that religion left
4. To recover and purify consecrated places that are presently being 'polluted and profaned'
5. To rescue people of that religion in countries that were once of that religion from 'the servitude of the infidels'
Example- The battle of Badr in the Qur'an and by Muslims, was fought on Tuesday, 13 March 624 CE (17 Ramadan, 2 AH), near the present-day city of Badr, Al Madinah Province in Saudi Arabia. Led by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Ali
