Answer:

Through self awareness and a better understanding of the issues that led to my diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder, I find it much easier to explain my feelings (including fears), to another person. When you say another person I'm assuming that you are primarily focusing on that other person being my partner (current or not)? This is the implication anyway. Through increased self awareness, education and self therapy, I find it easier to communicate with others, particularly romantic partners. I no longer bottle things up. I speak much more freely. I'm far less needy and clingy. I do not fear rejection anymore. Obviously rejection is unpleasant but I no longer see it as the end of the world. In relationships there are 2 primary variables that I believe are vital to ongoing relationship happiness and inner contentment. These 2 key factors are TRUST and COMMUNICATION. Without these there is NO relationship. So please, please learn to communicate much better. Talk issues over with each other. With good communication we become happier, much closer connected and consequently more trusting of our significant other. I am so pleased to be asked such an important question, particularly at this much happier stage of my life. As I say on many occasions, my raison daitre on quora is to somehow help others (particularly the younger quorans), to negotiate the absolute minefield of adult relationships much more effectively. To make better use of each day. To be able to move on quicker from failed relationships. Above all: To hopefully fulfil a happy life (involving their incredibly important adult relationships), much more effectively and to not waste unnecessary time focusing on failed relationship. Communicate!
