In fact, I’d say the opposite is true. If you’re self-actualized, you’re honest with yourself. You know who you are because you’ve given your good, bad, and ugliest a hard look from the inside-out. Most self-centered people I know are actually pretty insecure narcissists, who really aren’t ok with who they are (the appearance of self-centered ness is a “show”), are always looking outside themselves and trying to be “cool,” always judging who they think is cool or not cool and trying to mimic those people they think fit the “cool” bill, trying, trying, trying to be someone they are not…

I think self-centered people are essentially sad, insecure people with ego-issues, who are more concerned with how they look to others and not concerned with being humble or having much humility. It takes humility to be self-actualized and have that realistic understanding of oneself that can admit ones flaws in my opinion.
