Swadeshi movement of the year 1890s was based on some core economic issues. Fabric and threat from England were machine made, fine, cheap but was disrupting home production of clothes in India.

So India boycotted use of foreign goods. This swadeshi messages  and activities inspired the swadeshi movement in India. The freedom movement was formed by Mahatma Gandhi after 15 years.
