Indirect/Reported speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: Peter said,"The programme was good." (Direct)

Peter said that the programme was good. (Indirect/Reported)

In the above example, when writing in indirect/reported form, the sentence changes according to its tense form. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'this' changes to 'that', 'will' changes to 'would', 'tomorrow' changes to 'the next day' 'you' changes to 'I' and many other words will have to be made.

"Do you know the way to Arnab's house?," asked Rohit. (Direct)

Rohit asked whether I knew the way to Arnab's house. (Indirect/Reported)

Hope it helps :)
