Answer:

Jodha Bai, who was also called Mariamuz- Zamani following her marriage with Akbar, was the third and the most favourite queen of Akbar. Despite being a Hindu, she is believed to have captured the emperor's heart in no time.  Jodha was the daughter of Raja Bharmal, the Rajput ruler of Amber (modern day Jaipur). Her maiden name was Hira Kunwari. If you look at History, there are many instances of Rajputs entering into marital alliances with the Mughals for political gains; however, Jodha's marriage is deemed to characterized by motives other than simple politics. Jodha was so popular with the emperor that she was the one who could issue farman (official decree), which was the exclusive official power of the emperor alone. Due to Akbar's intense liking for her, she had been enjoying a lot of privileges in the palace than the other queens. Enabled by her power, Jodha built several mosques, gardens and wells around the country. Akbars first and second queens namely Ruqaiyya Begum and Salima Sultan were childless. Akbar was desperate to get a male heir who could take care of the throne after him. He prayed intensely to the almighty and also frequented a Sufi Saint called Salim Chishti praying for progeny. The blessings and prophecy of the saint came true only through Jodha Bai who gave birth to a son who was named as Salim as a matter of gratitude towards the Sufi Saint. This prince later came to be known as Jahangir.

It appears that Akbar's liking for Jodha bai grew more after she gave birth to the legal heir to the Mughal throne. Jodha was permitted by Akbar to continue her Hindu mode of worship since she was extremely devoted to Lord Krishna. In fact, there was a special temple for Krishna in the palace for her worship. Due to his fondness for Jodha, Akbar came closer to some Hindu rituals and also seemed to have accepted them.
