Answer:

The answer is no. Although he was reputed to have dyslexia, Einstein was an above-average student in primary school, despite the opinions of his teachers considering as "moderately talented". But his grades were apparently enough for him to gain admission to the Luitpold-Gymnasium, a highly competitive secondary school.

However, to his admission, he was never adept in memorizing words, texts and names, and he was not enthusiastic towards school because of its focus on learning by rote: he felt that it was not accord with his mental preoccupations. Despite these obstacles, and again despite the low opinion of his teachers, he advanced steadily and had a final grade of 2 out of 4, with 1 has the highest grade.

Many dwelt on the fact that Einstein failed in his entrance exam at the Zurich Polytechnic, but one should consider its circumstances. He took the test at the age of 15, less than 2 years than he was supposed to graduate from the Luitpold-Gymnasium. However, he was given special permission to take the exam although he was one and half years short of the required age to enter the school. He did fail because his knowledge of French was marginal and his lack of knowledge of other subjects was borne about by his current school's curriculum, which was different from Swiss schools. But his knowledge of math and physics were impressive enough for his examiner to invite him to attend college lectures even before he was formally accepted.

He was able to eventually pass the exam mainly because he forced himself to learn French in the Gymnasium to a level that it would have taken a Swiss graduate six years' worth of classes. But he was never comfortable with it as he was first and foremost a German. He was, however, more comfortable with English, especially when he was forced to emigrate to the United States.

With this in mind, allegations of Einstein being a bad student had little basis in fact
