An overly bureaucratic management does not hold relevance in dynamic business environments which we have today.  

It is felt by many that bureaucracy creates a drag on progress, does not allow for quick decisions and corresponding actions. This is because in bureaucracy, there are several rigid steps to follow before a decision can be taken. While this is one way of following company policies and procedures, it could also be a reason for loss of business to the competitor because they were faster to respond.  

Undue delay in approval of increase in credit limit of a customer, could mean lost sale.
