Do you think employees have access to information about other employees’ compensation level* (assume same hierarchical level) or should this knowledge be withheld from employees? Discuss with rationale.

In regard to the above mentioned question. Firstly, the assumption is that all the nature of compensation, stays confidential in professional workplace, as all members concerned are bound under the clauses of an employment contract. This means that both the employer and employee know the deal, and if at the same level of hierarchy, then indeed, in a professional organisational structure this news doesn't get out.

However, if one employee may confide in another employee, willingly, then that's a different scenario.

Also, in my opinion, it is better that all such news regarding, concessions should stay hidden between the concerned parties or otherwise this leads to cases of professional jealousy which will ultimately cause a bad working atmosphere.

According to the human resource policies maintained by the top organizations, employees cannot get any access to information about other employees compensation, because if people get to know the compensation then they can misuse their power to suppress their colleagues.

On the other part, it can be supervised by the management or hierarchical level of an organization.
