The problem of gypsies has existed for centuries. Gypsies are basically nomadic people and most of their problems arise due to the nomadic nature of their existence. It is believed that they were originally from Northern India who fled to Europe and Russia in the 11 century as their language resembles the contemporary Hindi language. Since they went to different parts of Britain, Europe, Middle East and France, the problem of their settlement has always been a question, their ethnicity a point of discrimination and their culture, traditions faced erosion if they became the part of the society they lived in following the principle of assimilation. A huge population of Roma goes through the problems of education, unemployment, social status and settled life. They were sent to gas chambers during the second world war and nations where they go treat them as second class.

Though in the Czech town of Český Krumlov, for instance, the large Roma community of 1,000 people — about 5 percent of the town's population — are well-integrated in the life of the town while remaining proud of their cultural identity, still the gypsies cannot escape the deep-rooted discrimination which lies in the statement like 'I am gypped' when one is duped by someone.

Are they really in sync with nature can be answered by the fact that if they had been in sync with nature, would they have faced the ongoing problems of their entity for years!
