The Mughal Empire must survive at the Shah Jahan/Aurangazeb levels, not Shah Alam II/Bahadur Shah II levels. In other words, it must survive as a centralized, pan-India power, with a reasonable resemblance to its "days of glory".
The British (or any other foreign entity) must not be allowed to build an empire in India. Maybe they are allowed to maintain trading posts and even factories, but that is it. They would not control any significant land area on the sub-continent.
