I am not willing to say that the concept itself is wrong, because, it is accepted and followed, world over. We assume that it is the best method for governance, but the purpose is not well served in many countries. Any good policy, should meet at least the minimum requirement of the nation as a whole. If the nations have not fulfilled this basic commitment, then, we should know where the mistake is. India is one among the nation, that need go a long way to satisfy this basic necessity. I do not know, Whether it is a problem of democratic principle, or whether, it is a problem of Governance. Either way some thing is wrong somewhere. Education has not reached the length and width of the nation, poverty has not been eliminated, the country is ruled by only a small section of the people, who are appearing again and again in the apex body. The selections of the candidates, and the election system need to to be improved. Amassing wealth by a small section of the people can’t be allowed in a democracy. The income distribution is so wide and varied. The decision making process is very slow and complicated. Whom to be blamed, the system or the people?
