yes. that is because in compost, all constituents are biodegradable and pollution free.There is no harm in using them in excess. but excessive use of chemical fertilisers can cause pollution and can make the soil alkaline.

yes, compost is better instead of fertilizers as compost is made up of bio-degradable waste which does not spoil the crop (no chemical is used in compost thus there is no chance for the crop to have few amount of chemical in them,which when consumed by humans can cause disease) also using compost in excessive amount does not cause soil pollution. Whereas using fertilisers in excessive amount can spoil the crop which when eaten by humans can cause diseases also excessive use of chemical fertilisers can cause pollution and can make the soil alkaline.
