Green revolution

The green revolution os a term used to describe the spectacular increase in crop production of food grains, espeacially wheat , in North India, that started in 1968.Dr.Norman Borlaug ,an American agronomist , is called the father of the Green Revolution .He had designed the new package tecnology in agriculture , which included the combined use of three inputs-high yeilding variety seeds, adequate irrigation water and chemical fertilizers.

The use of package tecnology , together with various agricultural reforms like consolidating land holdings, rural electrification ,farm mechanism and providing credit facilities to farmer , has givin a big boost to agricultural output . Asa result ,we are not only a self-sufficient in the production of wheat ,but also have bumper stocksthat are exported to other countries.

yes. I too think India must be self sufficient in food grains production.

REASONS ARE :-

1. India is the 2nd most populous country in the world.

2. To avoid food shortage and crisis.

3. To check dependancy on other countries for agriculture imports.

4. To check inflation.

5. To feed millions of people.

6. To make agricultural sector contributing a good GDP to economy... etc..
