Do you think it is possible for the representatives to go against the wishes and interests of the people who elected them?

Yes, it is possible but the thing is that if they go against the interest of the public then they will lose out on a larger section of the people.

If they lose the trust then that person will not elect them in the next election at will be their loss only.

Hey there !

Well the representatives are like free birds and can do whatever they feel like while they experience power. They can even go against the majority under their own wish and pressure.

But since it is against the interest of a large section of people, they will eventually face the consequences through regular protests, complaints, etc. Even though these are ignored, the party men also revolt if they feel them to depressed.

This causes lack of support from large section and eventually would lead to decline in power in the next election.

Hope my answer helped !
