Answer: James was neither good nor bad. He was grey.
Explanation: James Potter behaved like a douchebag in his teens. He was a strut and a bully as per the Order of the phoenix. And that was all we got to know about him which I think was unfair. I tend to believe there was more to him. There have to be a reason why a wise man like Remus stuck with him. There have to be a reason a women as compassionate and kind as Lily fell for him. There have to be a reason why Sirius loved him so much and considered him like his own brother. It is said that "a person is described by the company he keeps" and judging James on that basis all I can think is he has to be a great man.
