I think that legends and folktales are very important for a child’s upbringing, because I believe that they teach the kids to be strong, it helps gives children an ideal that they can look up to. someone who can help them. While these classic stories are not only highly entertaining, they also play an important role in passing along core values or character traits. Folktales were often employed to share a common history, to reinforce cultural values or highlight important traditions.

Importance of Legends and Folktales in our Life

Undoubtedly. Legends and folktales play a vital role in one’s growth and development. Children grow up listening to them from their elders. These folktales and legends contain personality enriching influences. They instill in the minds of children basic moral values and ethics.

Mythological legends such as Mahabharata and Ramayana have many sub-stories in them that influence the growing child’s perception. For example from the tale of Sravan, we learn the ideal of filial relationship and responsibility. Almost all the legends and folktales teach us the lessons of righteousness and idealism related to each and every aspect of life.

In conclusion it can be said that folktales and legends play a highly agreeable role in the holistic development of children.
