Yes, it will. If we be kind to everything we meet, theoretically we will recieve that compassion back, however, in the case of non-living things, this won't always happen. Being kind to anything is programmed to give humans a hit of dopamine, meaning you become happier each time you help someone/something out. If everyone treats anything else with respect or kindness, we will be happier (scientifically) and the world will feel more positive. That is why we should show compassion to everyone and everything we come across.
