Yes,they would be definitely different if genes of two or more characters were located on same chromosomes.

Explanation:

Mendel's law of inheritance

According to them:-

  1. The characters are controlled by a pair of factors in an organism. These factors are now called genes.
  2. The genes are of two types - dominant and recessive.
  3. Only dominant genes are able to express themselves in the presence of recessive genes . however recessive genes can express themselves only with the gene of same type.

The Mendel selected pea plant in which mostly genes of different characters are located on different chromosomes. Contrary to this, if the genes would have been on same chromosomes , he would not be able to get ratio of 9:3:3:1 in dihybrid cross and 3:1 in monohybrid cross.
