Hi friend,

Here is your answer,
______________________________________________________________

Have a look on the following points :-
1.) Indian ocean is named after India because, India holds a central location which is at the head of the Indian Ocean
2.) India has the longest coastline in the region adding to its clout, no other country in the Indian ocean indeed has that long a coastline.

3.) India also serves as an important transit point for sea routes connecting the two regions that is countries of Europe with countries of East Asia.

yes, naming the Indian Ocean after a country is justified because India has a Central location which is at the head of the Indian Ocean and India has the longest coastline on the Indian Ocean.
